I recently began rescuing homeless cats and kittens living near my home. This has been a daunting task, however worth it when they're adopted into loving homes. I am not an official rescue. I have no place to keep the cats and kittens that need rescued and due to this can only rescue 2 at a time. I've been placing them in large dog crates (comfy ones) in the garage until homes are found. learn how to humanely trap cats>>
*The kittens up for adoption are using the cat litter and are very friendly. We treat all the cats and kittens we rescue for fleas, mites, worms etc. And not only that, we give them lots of attention and love which properly socializes them. We also are spaying and neutering rescues while the APL is offering low cost services. Those cats are also vaccinated.
Outside of this, I am unable to take them all to the vet and understand someone serious about TRULY rescuing an animal will realize my limitations and not decide the cat unworthy of adoption for this reason. All of the cats I've rescued have checked out when taken to the vet. Because we care for and feed our homeless cats they're not eating as much garbage prior to being trapped, which is helping them not wind up with worms.
BUT this is NOT the LIFE they're meant to have. They live a rough life outside, which shows on their bodies. And every single cat we've rescued, with the exception of one, moved into their new homes without issue. The cat that had an issue simply wouldn't come out of hiding and his owner lost patience after a week. With some cats, and NOT ALL, it can take a month or two for them to process and accept their new surroundings. learn about socializing a new cat>>
If you can't adopt longterm, we are also looking for foster familes. A kitten or cat be easily be kept or trained in a large dog crate or its own small room. learn more about fostering>>
MAKE SURE EVEN YOUR HOUSE CATS WEAR COLLARS!
If your cat was to go missing for any reason, people like us may trap your cat and have NO IDEA he's a pet. In that event, the cat will be taken to the Animal Protective Leaque to be fixed and vaccinated. IF your pet was already fixed, he's just been cut open and traumatized for no reason. They sell safety collars that prevent your pet from choking to death should he get caught on something, if this is the reason your cat doesn't have a collar. The safety collar will just snap off. Of course a pet ID tag is a good idea too so you may be contacted should your cat or kitten be trapped.
